At the end of March a brand new magazine will be going through the letter boxes of the North-east’s top earners.
Reaching households with an income of over £100,000, Élite magazine will bring a mix of aspirational living, lifestyle, culture, food, drink and sport into the living rooms of some of the region’s most prestigious homes.
What’s going to be in issue one?
Issue one will feature an interview with our inaugural cover star Maria Guseva who will be sharing some Michelin star kitchen secrets’ and discussing her journey from growing up in Russia to creating some of the UK’s finest pastry creations.
There will be spreads on fashion, a through the keyhole look at some of the region’s dream homes, features on food and drink both in the home and the places worth venturing out to, as well as a look at some of the most exclusive weekend getaways both at home and abroad.
Our tech blogger will look at the home devices linking the homes of the North-east into the internet of things, and we will be examining the world of the electric and hybrid vehicles to establish whether beyond the brochure they stack up as a truly practical vehicle for the North-east executive.

Who will be reading it?
Élite will be distributed to 10,000 houses we have identified as being the homes of the region’s top earners. We have done this using ACORN data – a powerful consumer classification that segments the UK population by analysing demographic data, social factors, population and consumer behaviour.
Online we will be using our extensive mailing lists and social media heft to put content in the inboxes and the social feeds of the most élite households in the North-east.
The opportunity for advertisers
The North-east already has its fair share of glossy magazines but Élite promises to be different for a number of reasons.
Liam Cottam, head of digital at Trinity Mirror Solutions North East, explains: “What’s the difference between our magazine and other free high-end glossy magazines in the local marketplace?
“We all come into contact with impressive looking free glossy mags regularly enough but when was the last time you actually read an article?
“When you flick through you look at the pictures. You put it down and you don’t think about it again until you see the next one.
“We are asking advertisers to challenge their thinking and ask themselves when was the last time they saw one of these magazines dogeared, spine cracked, really engaged with.
“As well as the careful work we are doing around distribution, we have worked hard to ensure our magazine has content people are really going to love reading.
“Longform journalistic pieces around lifestyle, culture, food, drink and sport. Pieces that don’t have a home in our newspaper and don’t fit into the bite-size model of our traditional web output.”
